The Friendship Circle + Music + Train
Writing the Rails: Detroit got underway yesterday when David Kav embraced the original idea.
One man. One guitar. One train.
As a reminder, Writing the Rails is a project of Natiiv where we put musicians on tour, but they only go where the train goes. (Amtrak is not a sponsor). We perform in towns with Amtrak stations and raise money for a charity in the final city.
The original trip took David Kav and writer Theresa Carter to Memphis. They raised money for St. Jude's and performed in Chicago, Champaign, Charleston, Carbondale and Memphis.
David went solo this time with stops in Kalamazoo, Ann Arbor, Royal Oak and Detroit. We are raising money for Friendship Circle, a Natiiv client, and partnered with Biggby Coffee to perform in cafes across Michigan. I don't have all of the locations handy, so follow us on Twitter for show information.

A huge thank you to Nicole at Biggby Coffee for introducing us to Biggby Coffee owners in every town. They have been so welcoming to David on very short notice.
What happened on the train yesterday? David's first WTR train jam session.
Go check out the other videos for the true story of a woman that was born on the train! I suspect David will be collecting a few more stories this week on his way to Detroit. On Sunday morning, he'll be meeting up with the Friendship Circle team and getting a tour of the space supported by so many of you in Chase Giving.
After helping our umpteenth friend have that “a-ha!” moment when they realized how to harness the social web, we figured we were on to something.
Social Media is structured around discussion, and we’re seasoned experts at helping people join those discussions by also joining communities. Learn more about Natiiv.
