Kosha, Flex and Gary

Two rappers, a Q & A and Mr. Crush It himself

A little over a year ago, Kosha Dillz and Flex Mathews came through Chicago on tour. I got to know them at a show and offered them a place to sleep and relax before the next city. While Kosha and Flex aren't Natiiv clients, I consider them "friends of Natiiv" and sometimes feel more like their Aunt Leah.

We travel a similar conference route and were recently all at Jewlicious and this week we were all at SXSW. If you know Kosha at all, you know he's a publicity machine. I've learn from him every time we go out and about in a new city. He makes gigs fall off trees by his constant networking and amazing stage presence.

I should have known something was up when I saw Kosha tweet, "hello austin...im up already grabbing the rental car..hoping I can catch @garyvee at 11 today..and just start rapping during an intermission."

What happened a few hours later was a surprise to Gary and even to Flex Mathews. Kosha and Flex got in the two different lines for the microphones and carefully worked their way to the front and managed to be the final questions of the keynote. Here's the question they asked.

A lot of people think it was staged, but it wasn't. It was a great plan by Kosha to Crush it and get in front of the best audience at SXSW. He knew it was better to be in front of a full room of Gary Vee's fans than any club during SXSW music.

It also was on YouTube, Twitter and Posterous before the room emptied. I think this is a great example of offline/online promotions and I wish I could take credit for the idea. Well done, guys!

I was there too (I nervously gave Gary a meridian) and was so thrilled to see Flex and Kosha ride the momentum into stardom. While I didn't meet Kosha, I did meet Flex and he was such a warm personality! I wish you all the best. Excellent proof that going with your heart, acting on faith and just riding the wild ride is really the only way to live!!

This was awesome. Kosha was texting me literally SECONDS before this went down and was afraid time ran out, he asked, "should I do it" - I said, "HELLS YEA!"

Imagine if he decided to bail out, his life and Flex would not have created the most memorable moment or changed their lives.

BUT.... that ONE minute of taking action changed their life.

Sometimes opportunity is right in front of you, sometimes you skip it, other times you go for it and grab it by the horns!

Your choice!
