Colophon

A little bit about the tools & tech that make this site happen.

There are, quite definitively, 1,042,929,831.5 ways to build a website. (We counted). This particular site was built using quite a number of technologies—many of them open-source.

Frontend (the parts you see)

Modern web standards are employed throughout the site. We are proud to feature valid HTML 4.01 Strict and CSS 2.1.

The entire site is set in Helvetica Neue. If unavailable, we fall back to Helvetica or (shudder) Arial.

We used the Fugue icon set by Yusuke Kamiyamane for little visual touches here and there. Thank you, Yusuke, for releasing such a fantastic and comprehensive icon library under a Creative Commons license

Backends (the parts you can't see)

The entire site was developed using the Django web framework on top of the PostgreSQL database. We'd heartily recommend the usage of either for any web project.

The modern web is full of reusable tools and code. We'd be remiss to not mention the ones we used:

Natiiv is hosted by the capable folks over at WebFaction.
